In order to 3d carve timber spearguns quickly, make jigs and tooling, and cut plastic components in-house, I needed access to a cnc milling machine. Prohibitively expensive and without sufficient Z axis travel, I decided to make my own out of reclaimed RSJ beams and a T-slot surface table.

It took a couple of days to design on CAD and a month of solid work to build from the ground up.

I aimed for the machine to mill aluminium, brass, wood, plastics and composites, and steel (got to run it slow with coolant).
